| Water JetA1 Discriminator |
Page 1 of 3 IntroductionThe avionics industry requires critical assessment of fuel supplies to maintain performance and safety. Ensuring acceptable limits of moisture in jet A1 fuel is one such safety procedure required to be performed daily on all domestic and international aircraft. Conidia’s discriminator product can perform such a test simply and effectively offering

TechnologyThe Water JetA1 discriminator is based on a fibre optical sensor, with transmitter, receiver and discriminator electronics. This interrogates the complex refractive index changes in aqueous environments, exploiting the evanescent wave principle. Development of this fibre technology has lead to in excess of 40,000 operational hours without failure. Moisture Draining ProcedureFirstly, the discriminator unit is connected in line with the drain flow pipe exiting from the aircraft drain point. Suitable adapters are provided to aid this process. Switch the discriminator on and when draining the indicator will light green when water present. This will change to red when Jet A1 fuel becomes evident. At this point the draining process can be stopped. |
