Diesel Bug growth control

The best way to control diesel bug organisms is to make their living conditions inhospitable. Protecting diesel fuel from moisture ingress and draining any and all water from the diesel fuel system is fundamental to control.
Once diesel bug growth has become established, chemical and possibly mechanical intervention may be needed to clean both diesel fuel and diesel fuel systems and restore a healthy balance. Preventative measures against the diesel bug are the best solution.
These involve designing an "appropriate to risk” fuel hygiene strategy, combining regular drainage of water from the system and testing for levels of diesel bug growth. This should be backed by appropriate chemical treatments when testing indicates the need. This strategy should avoid costly mechanical intervention.
