Conidia Bioscience Ltd's new multi-organism tests will have benefits for fleet managers and operators in the land vehicle industry. Microbial contamination is an issue for land diesel just as it is for the marine and aviation industries. As more and more land diesel fuels include biofuels - which are much more susceptible to microbial contamination than traditional hydrocarbon fuels - this problem will increase. The new tests will allow engineers and maintenance staff to assess the presence of dangerous organisms, including aerobic bacteria, yeasts and the "diesel bug" Hormoconis resinae. Set to operational limits for the marine and and land vehicle industries, it will allow quick decisions to made on the state of the fuel tanks - and more importantly - whether or not the fuel is suitable for uplift from suspect fuel systems. ![]() |
